Open Days

Thank you for your interest in The Oaks Specialist College. We look forward to welcoming you at one of our open events. Our Open Days take place when the college is in operation, therefore places are limited and must be booked in advance.

September 2026 dates

We will be hosting four Open Days during September and October 2026 for prospective learners looking for either a September 2027 or September 2028 entry to our college:

  • Monday 21 September 2026 – suitable for prospective entrants to our Learning for Life pathway.
  • Thursday 24 September 2026 – suitable for prospective entrants to our Skills for Independence or Preparation for Life & Work pathways.
  • Monday 28 September 2026 – suitable for prospective entrants to our Learning for Life pathway.
  • Thursday 1 October 2026 – suitable for prospective entrants to our Skills for Independence or Preparation for Life & Work pathways.

Learners and their families may arrive from 10.30am. Please note that all Open Days will begin promptly at 10.45am with a talk from the pathway lead, followed by small‑group tours of the college.

About our pathways

  • Learners within our Learning for Life pathway will follow a personalised curriculum and are assessed using the RARPA approach (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement). Some are pre-verbal and use AAC alongside a total communication approach. Following education, most learners will transition into social care day services.
  • Learners within both our Skills for Independence pathway and Preparation for Life and Work pathway will be working at Entry Level to Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. Following education, most will enter a mixture of social care day services, voluntary sector placements, employment or supported employment services.

Due to the amount of interest, booking is essential. Please only book on one tour; to do so please complete the appropriate form via one of the buttons below.
